Tasneem and Sedick’s Wedding Ceremonies have been the first Muslim Wedding Blink photography has documented. It has been such an interesting experience for us and are happy to add this to our portfolio of weddings.
It all started with the Mehndi evening a few days before their wedding. The Mehndi ceremony is most of the time held at the bride’s place either on the evening of the wedding ceremony or a few days before the wedding. It is an evening where all the female friends, family members and relatives of the bride come together to celebrate her becoming a Mrs and to pray, dance and be together as women, wishing her happiness, fortune and good luck for the her future.
At the beginning of the evening Tasneem’s husband was there to start the evening of to see his bride to be entering the party, to pray with all and to receive gifts from the family members. Quite soon after that, the party started with chats everywhere, a fantastic belly dancer, incredibly tasty home made food made by her family members, and with one of the most important moments; the tradition of applying turmeric paste to the brides hands and feet. According to custom the bride should not step out of the house for the next few days till her marriage.
It was a beautiful, colourful, festive and ceremony to be part of.
